Walks Around the Labyrinth
Abstract
A review of a monograph The Film Odyssey of Stanley Kubrick (Filmowa odyseja Stanleya Kubricka) by Piotr Kletowski about Stanley Kubrick’s work. The author praises the book for the material on the projects that Kubrick did not manage to realize in his lifetime. The theme of “saved from the Holocaust” is also explored. Through the analysis of the methodology employed in this book and the book’s composition, Klejsa questions the usefulness of using autobiographical concept in the analysis of Kubrick’s work and in the commentary on his early films.
