Abstract

Przylipiak argues that Klejsa's book Filmowe oblicza kontestacji is of exceptional quality and that it fills in a gap in our knowledge of one of the most important periods in the history of cinema. Klejsa presented a full and complex, methodologically coherent description of the period. He demonstrated how the sixties revolution is reflected in films made in the six countries of Western world during that period. Przylipiak points out to the immense range and variety of the material used by Klejsa, including the philosophy lying behind the contestation movements, ideas concerning society and politics, local and global historical context, determining local manifestation of contestations in each of the described countries and a thorough knowledge of the history and theory of film.
