Go Home! Side-Note to Marcin Giżycki’s Book “Wenders, Go Home!”
Abstract
In his book under the telling title Wenders, Go Home! Marcin Giżycki proves that European-born filmmakers who dare challenge the American dream have to reckon with an offensive challenge: Go Home! Maciejewski writes that in this solidly documented work Giżycki not only discusses movies shot in the United States by European directors but also films on the United States made elsewhere. In a rich historical outline Giżycki recounts the fate of those filmmakers who chose to emigrate to live and work in the United States, and comments on the consequences of the move. Gizycki's book is both a solid academic work and a very personal diary of his private fascination with the United States and its culture.
