Real World/Possible World: The Use of Film in Shaping of Identity of Socially Maladjusted Youth
Abstract
The author considers the role film can play in shaping the identity of socially maladjusted youth. The argument is based on research carried out in a correctional facility for underage boys and basic theories and methods of creative resocialisation. The aim of creative resocialisation is to create a new identity in socially maladjusted people. This is done by activating the development of epistemic, intellectual and creative structures. The author also describes the problems and methods of film-therapy, as successfully applied by therapists in the USA in the 1980s and 1990s. In her article the author particularly focuses on the question of projection-identification, as this phenomenon is the deciding factor and activates in a natural way the whole process of film-therapy.
