Abstract

Topological space with one side, or Möbius strip, can be the model of space-time in film. On the example of Wojciech Has’s The Halter and Grzegorz Królikiewicz’s Killing the Aunt, the author proves that physical and non-physical (objective physical events and subjective experiences) spheres overlap and are mutually inseparable facets of the same reality. The analysis of and Killing the Aunt presents the means the directors employed and discloses a unique unity of spirit and matter present in the deep structure of the films.
