After Hitchcock: In the Margins of “Hitchcock/Truffaut”, the Book Translated and Edited by Tadeusz Lubelski
Abstract
The book-length interview with Alfred Hitchcock, given to François Truffaut, one of major directors of the French New Wave, is a standard bible for both film experts and film goers. The conversation is not just an ordinary interview as it reveals the creative personality of both Hitchcock and his interlocutor; it shows the master-disciple relationship that gradually turns into a relation of two equal film makers. This unusually frank conversation contains important information on Hitchcock’s filmmaking and the cinema in general. The faithful and reliable translation by Tadeusz Lubelski maintains the dynamic character of an interview.
