The Death of Body: A Question about Man – Krzysztof Zanussi’s “Life as a Sexually Transmitted Terminal Disease”
Abstract
Frąc points to the capability of the cinema to record a metamorphosis of the materiality of the world and body. But there is a barrier the eye cannot go beyond. It is a state of illness interpreted as strangeness inside one’s body. The issue is raised in Zanussi’s film. It tells a story of man’s inevitable striving towards death that cannot be comprehended although can be shown because indefinability is part of the essence of humanity.
