Mrs. Lautman
Abstract
There is a Polish note in The Shop on Main Street, the Czech film by Ján Kadar and Elmar Klos. The leading role of Mrs. Lautman is played by unforgettable Ida Kamińska. The film becomes, in a special way, part of the Holocaust subject matter raised mainly in the countries where so many Jews were killed. Litka writes about the history of the work of art, which was the archetype of the film, and traces the relations of then spectators, critics and Kamińska’s comments on the film.
