The Unsuccessful Attempt of a Certain Carnival: “The Big Feast”
Abstract
Marco Ferreri’s The Big Feast is a film about four middle-aged men who decide to commit suicide by gorging themselves to death. The idea that seems to be quite a nonsensical plan is becoming more and more disgusting and hurts human dignity when executed. What’s interesting it triggers off disgust and distaste but provokes anger and opposition. The physiological anarchy of Marco Ferreri compels people to think and - amazingly - provokes to reflection. The text is an attempt to analyse deep problems connected with the culture and religion of modern man in Ferreri’s film.
