Abstract

Jan Gondowicz writes that Villiers de L’Isle-Adam’s book L’Ève future turns out to be both a cruel satire on humanity and a picture of the eternal conflict between man and nature. But we may first of all read from it the first symptoms of fears and uncertainties connected with problems we face today, like the limits of humanity or the ethics of experiments with artificially generated intelligence.
