Actresses in the Films of Poetic Realism of Marcel Carné
Abstract
Trojanowski paints portraits of actresses starring in Marcel Carné films, focusing chiefly on the years 1938-1946, or the movies rated among the so-called poetic realism. Some of the movies have become stale, and some performances of the actresses do not seem exciting and interesting today. Surely, the characters developed by Arletty and Michèle Morgan deserve attention as they continue to surprise with original interpretation and are certainly part of the history of film making.
