On Little Red Riding Hood Consuming a Wolf...
Abstract
Barthes says that myth does not deny things (...) it purifies them, it makes them innocent, it gives them a natural and eternal justification, it gives them a clarity. (...) it organises a world which is without contradictions because it is without depth. Feminists picked up the scholar’s views and thoughts. Women-authors came to understand that you could use the deconstruction of a myth to create its new version, that you could create entirely new myths and could also look with a critical eye at the traditional myths of femininity to reveal their potential for oppression. Starting from a synthetic review of different approaches to the myth Abucewicz offers an interesting interpretation of the film The Company of Wolves (1984, directed by Neil Jordan, with screenplay by Angela Carter and Jordan, based on Carter’s novels), with references to various fairy-tales, also their historical versions.
