Abstract
Book Review of: Ewa Kowalska-Zając, Zobaczyć muzykę. Notacja polskiej partytury współczesnej, Łódź 2019.
The changes in the musical language in the first decades of the 20th century and changes in all aspects of a musical work in the second half of the century led to a search for the possibility of adequate forms of recording these innovations.
Ewa Kowalska-Zając discusses in her book Zobaczyć muzykę. Notacja polskiej partytury współczesnej [To See Music. The notation of the Polish contemporary score] the development of music notation in the 20th century (first part of the book) and presents the previously outlined tendencies on selected examples of contemporary Polish works (second part of the book); it should be emphasized that the scope of the material presented in the second part has not yet been elaborated on in a monographic manner.
