Abstract

This article examines Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński’s Rondo alla polacca in E flat major, Op. 6. The study was prompted by the discovery of the orchestral parts at the British Library. It presents analogies and differences between the Rondo and the composer’s other concert works and identifies stylistic features shared with compositions from his early creative period. The paper also explores a possible artistic influence of Ignaz Moscheles and the relationship of Op. 6 to concert polonaises in the brillant style by Polish composers of the first half of the nineteenth century, outlining the historical background of the work and its nineteenth century reception.
