Abstract

The present text is a response to Wojciech Gurgul’s paper in Muzyka 69 (1/2024), in which he introduces three guitar arrangements of Polonaise in A Minor from the years 1829−37, claiming that the original could not have been composed by Kasper Napoleon Wysocki. While I agree with this part of Gurgul’s conclusion, I also state my reasons for upholding my earlier thesis (expressed in Muzyka 68, 3/2023) that the polonaise cannot be attributed to Michał Kleofas Ogiński. One of the arguments against such attribution is that the Polonaise in A Minor differs in its musical structure from other works in this genre known to have been written by Ogiński.
