A New Look at the Music Gatherings in the ‘Krasiński Codex’
Abstract
This article challenges the traditional view that the ‘musical’ and ‘non-musical’ parts of the codex Rps 8054 III held in the National Library of Poland in Warsaw are in no way related. New codicological and palaeographical insights presented in Part One allow the author to propose that the codex is a collection of miscellaneous material notated (and owned) by Petrus de Casimiria, and likely bound together during his lifetime. Part Two, in an attempt at its general contextualisation, highlights the palaeographic and repertorial aspects connecting the ‘musical’ part of the codex with selected contemporary Central European sources.
