The quarterly “Muzyka” has been published continuously since 1956 and remains the leading musicology journal in Poland. It publishes texts dealing with music history from the Middle Ages to contemporary times, as well as ethnomusicology and systematic musicology. The main focus of the issues addressed is the Polish musical tradition, as most broadly understood, as well as the culture of the countries of Central Europe. The articles are published in Polish or English and are double-blind peer reviewed.
The original version of the journal appears in print. There is no fee to publish and all texts are available in open access under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 license. (Issues from 2018/1 to 2022/3 are available on CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.)

We are delighted to announce that our journal has been positively evaluated and has met all the criteria required for inclusion in the Web of Science. “Muzyka” has been selected for indexing in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).
Articles published after 2023, starting with issue 2024 No. 1, will be included in this prestigious database. We would like to thank all our collaborators - authors, peer reviewers, translators and members of the Academic Advisory Board - for contributing to this achievement.

Issue 3/2025 contains articles devoted to the history of music from the 15th to the 19th century. Contributors include Michał Bruliński, Jolanta Bujas-Poniatowska, Jakub Chachulski, Ryan O’Sullivan, Barbara Przybyszewska-Jarmińska and Leszek Jarmiński, Marcin Szelest, Piotr Wilk, and Grzegorz Zieziula. We invite all publishers of musicological works (monographs, collection of essays, critical editions) to send their publications to the editorial office. The most interesting of them will be reviewed in the journal. All received books are recorded in the section "Publications received" with a short note about their content.

The project “Internationalization and improvement of the publishing quality of the journal Muzyka” is financially supported by the Polish Ministry of Education of Science of the Republic of Poland under the “Development of Scientific Journals” program. Project duration: 15.12.2022–14.12.2024. The total funding value is PLN 60.000; the total value of the project is PLN 60.000. Date of signing the contract: 15.12.2022.
The aim of the project is to raise the level of publishing and editing practices and to increase the international range of the journal “Muzyka”.
