GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

The admission of papers for the “Bulletin of Art History” is conducted on a continuous basis; papers submitted can be in Polish or any of the four foreign languages: English, German, French, and Italian, and have to fit within the academic field of the journal.

“Bulletin of Art History” accepts only genuine papers unpublished elsewhere, not submitted for printing with any other publishers. The paper’s submission is tantamount to declaring that the paper does not infringe another party’s copyright and to consenting for the paper to undergo the plagiarism check and the double-blind review process.

The size of typical articles and materials published in “Bulletin of Art History” is ca 20-25 standard printed pages, however, in some justified situations admitted papers can be shorter or longer than the suggested size. Short Articles should not be longer than 12 pages. Reviews of books and exhibitions should not be longer than 10-12 standard printed pages; however, similarly as in the case of papers and short articles the size may differ from the preferred one.

The text has to be prepared in conformity with the Editors’ Guidelines.

In order for the paper to be accepted for publication the following have to be submitted:

  • Abstract (up to 200 words) in English that will be published at the paper’s beginning. Abstract should contain the paper’s thesis, applied methodology, general information setting the problem in the context of so-far research and the major conclusions. Suggestion: in Abstract use Keywords that will attract readers interested in the topic.
  • Summary (up to 5 pages) in English that will be published at the end of the paper. In some justified cases, Summary in a different language can be submitted.
  • Keywords in English, separated with hard returns; please, do not separate them with punctuation.
  • Bibliography in compliance with The Chicago Manual of Style which has to be attached as a separate file. It shall include all the academic references used for writing the paper.

Submission of figures illustrating the paper in separate described files (300 dpi .TIFF) and the copyright licence for their reproduction are Author’s responsibility.

Editors shall be entitled to abridge published papers and introduce changes to them.

PAPER CHECKLIST PRIOR TO SUBMITTING

Authors are kindly asked to verify whether their papers meet the below criteria. Papers that do not meet the editing standards may be rejected:

  • Paper has neither been published in any other journal or by any other publisher, nor has it been submitted to any. Author has downloaded, signed, and submitted the respective Declaration to the Editors.
  • Paper has been saved as a , docx. or .rtf file.
  • Paper has been edited in compliance with the Editors’ guidelines.
  • Affiliation and ORCID identifier have been included.
  • Figures have been attached in separate files (saved as 300 dpi .TIFF). Author declares to provide copyright licences for their reproduction.
  • Author has prepared Abstract (up to 200 words), Summary (up to 5 pages), Keywords (spaced with hard returns; please, do not separate them with punctuation), and Bibliography of references (Chicago Manual of Style format, preferably with DOI number; Bibliography should be additionally attached as a file). Without providing them (in metadata fields), you will not be able to complete the submission process (please do not include them in the article file).
  • Author shall grant the Editors a non-exclusive and royalty-free licence (CC BY 4.0) to use the paper.

COPYRIGHT

The author grants the publisher a royalty-free non-exclusive licence (CC BY 4.0) to use the article in „Bulletin of Art History”, retains full copyright, and agrees to identify the work as first having been published in „Bulletin of Art History” should it be published or used again. The journal is published under the CC BY 4.0 licence. By submitting an article, the author agrees to make it available under this licence.

 

In issues from 1(2019) to 4(2022) all articles were published under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence. During this period the authors granted a royalty-free non-exclusive licence (CC BY-ND 4.0) to use their article in „Bulletin of Art History”, retained full copyright, and agreed to identify the work as first having been published in our journal should it be published or used again.
