Abstract
This article refers to four color etchings found in the Bibliothèque Polonaise in Paris depicting four actors of the National Theater in Warsaw in theatrical costumes: Bonawentura Kudlicz in the role of Boratyński in Alojzy Feliński's tragedy Barbara Radziwiłłówna, Franciszek Wolski in the role of Tarnowski in the same work, Ignacy Werowski in the role of Sambor in Ludwik Kropiński's tragedy Ludgarda, and Konstancja Dmuszewska in the role of Queen Jadwiga in Kurpiński's opera, to words by Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Jadwiga the Queen of Poland. The author presents the materials and premises on the basis of which he determined that the etchings were made in the first half of the 19th century by Jakub Sokołowski and Jan Feliks Piwarski. He points out that this is a valuable addition to the iconography of the National Theater of the Congress Kingdom period, especially since the popular and esteemed artists of the stage were depicted superbly in costume, makeup and movement. The etchings are reproduced in the article.
