PEER REVIEW PROCESS
• Articles submitted by authors are initially evaluated by the editorial board. At this stage, non-academic texts, as well as those that do not meet the formal requirements or do not fit into the profile of the journal, are rejected.
• The articles that comply with substantive scope and formal standards of the journal are being sent to the reviewers without any prior editing.
• Articles are reviewed under the principle of confidentiality and mutual anonymity (double-blind peer review), which means that the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, and the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors at the time of the review.
• Articles are evaluated by two experts, who are selected by the editors for their relevant competence in the research area; editors make every effort to avoid selecting reviewers who may have competing interests.
• The names of peer reviewers who collaborate with "Biuletyn Historii Sztuki" are published once a year on the journal’s website.
• Reviewers evaluate texts using a form provided by the editors.
• The review must include a conclusion in which the reviewer recommends either acceptance or non-acceptance of the text for publication.
• If the reviewers’ recommendations diverge, the editors may appoint a third reviewer or consult with members of the Advisory Editorial Board.
• The editors are careful to maintain confidentiality and mutual anonymity when providing authors with reviewers’ guidance.
• The final decision on whether or not to accept a text for publication is made by the editorial board on the basis of the reviewers’ opinions and in consultation with the Advisory Editorial Board.
